Just a 15-minute drive from Dublin City Centre, this landmark establishment in the seclusion of the Strawberry Beds – next door to the Phoenix Park – has a history that stretches back to Cromwellian times and the famous patriot Michael Collins, and has long been considered the favourite watering hole of anglers fishing along the banks of the adjacent River Liffey. Wrights Angler’s Rest Named Best Food Pub

Wright’s Angler’s Rest of Chapelizod, Dublin 20, was named Ireland’s Best Food Pub at the Licensing World Bar Awards.

Selected from hundreds of bars that competed for the highly sought after food prize, Wrights Angler’s Rest was presented with the Santa Rita Bar Food Award in front of 300 members of the bar trade at a gala banquet in The Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin 4.

Commenting on Wrights Angler’s Rest winning the top food award, Nigel Tynan, editor of Licensing World and chairman of the judging panel said, ‘Pubs play a pivotal role in the eating-out sector, they are now Ireland’s number one casual dining choice and are used regularly by 60% of tourists. As a result pubs have transformed themselves in leading gastronomic destinations and now compete with leading restaurants and hotels.
